The TracTuff “Special” -16 ORB Bung offers a unique twist on a dated design.

The -16 ORB Bung has been around for many years; unfortunately, they really only work on flat or nearly flat surfaces. If you have ever tried to weld one on a curved surface, you’ll agree that it’s a bit of a challenge to do cleanly, especially on 4.00″ and smaller diameters. Generally, the left and right sides of the bung end up with large gaps that need to be filled in, and that doesn’t make for a clean/symmetrical weld bead.

I notch my -16 male flare bungs as I need them… but notching female ORB bungs doesn’t work because they are usually pretty shallow, so I set out to make a unique female bung that followed the contours of a 3.00″ tube/ pipe and incorporated a register that insured it was not only centered, but also kept it from sliding around while trying to weld it. I think you will agree that it’s pretty awesome for being soooo simple!

What I love about this product is that you don’t have to commit to one type of connection! You can’t switch fittings as the project evolves, and you don’t need to cut and weld a new fitting to do so… you just purchase a new port adapter and move on.

NOTE: You can purchase this product as an upgrade on any fill pot that doesn’t already list the option, as well as a stand-alone part if you’d like to weld it yourself. I highly recommend lubricating the threads of both parts prior to screwing in a fitting.
