Two Bolt Patterns Exist for the Plastic Thermostat Housings Found on K Series Engines from 2002 Through 2011. I Break Them Down by Engine Codes Shown… and “All Others”.

The Language Used Assumes FWD Application. 3 O’Clock = Firewall and 9 O’Clock = Front in RWD Applications.

Description

This version has been machined to remove the female thread and has a bent tube welded to the end to create an outlet angle specific to your needs (see end of description).

The Billet Thermostat Cover natively bolts to the OEM the K20A, K20A2, K20A3, and K20Z1 plastic housing(s) using the original shoulder bolts, OEM thermostat, and OEM gasket. The billet cover will also fit all other k series thermostat housings found on “all other” engine codes not previously mentioned, by modifying one of the lower mounting tabs (see picture below).

NOTE: The billet thermostat cover does not include a thermostat. To run this product, you MUST use a 2002-2006 Acura RSX or 2002-2005 Civic Si (P/N: 19301-PNA-003) thermostat. I ONLY recommend Genuine Honda.

“All Others” modification

Multiple swaps may benefit from this configuration; however, you will need to verify your clearances. Do NOT choose the low-profile bend option for 7, 8, or 9 o’clock position(s) if you have A/C. I do not recommend anything beyond 8 o’clock and with any angle beyond 50°. If you are interested in running AN fittings, it might make more sense to run the V2 Cover and use the hose fitting to make the necessary bend.

I recommend you sit down in front of your engine and get eye level with the thermostat housing, as shown in the image below, and note where you want the inlet positioned. What is shown is 9 o’clock.

Most customers choose the basic angle of 90° (straight forward for RWD swaps) because it is easy to understand and communicate, but you have control over this as well. I can offer everything from 10° to 90° in 10° increments. If you want a straight out connection, purchase the V2 Thermostat Cover.
