The Remote Mount Race Swirl Pot & Header Tank Combo is a max effort system!

Commonly found on real race cars because this system is the most effective product you can use to deaerate a cooling system. A style swirl pot is more effective at deaerating the cooling system than the use of a header tank alone! It also helps by increasing system capacity.

Both the swirl pot and the header tank are remotely mounted. Coolant is routed from your upper water neck to the swirl pots’ upper connection, and the lower connection continues to the top of the radiator. The swirl pot vent is routed to the top of the header tank, and the header tank is in turn connected to the water pump inlet.

There is no fill point on the actual swirl pot… the swirl pot is only responsible for deaerating the coolant that passes, and the header tank’s job is to separate the air, contain it, and allow for system expansion. It does this because the header tank is placed under a sort of vacuum. The water pumps a constant draw on it, creating a draw on anything it’s connected to. The draw pulls air and water from each of the components it is connected to and traps it at the system’s highest point.

The header tank needs to be situated as high as possible in the engine bay so that the water level in the tank is higher than the radiator. Typically mounted to a firewall, bulkhead, or shock tower with lines plumbed from all the individual cooling system components (radiator, upper water neck, turbo (if equipped)) that could potentially trap air and then fed back to the water pump’s inlet.

The cap bung has a 1/16″ NPT port for connection to an overflow and uses early model Honda radiator caps, such as an 88′-91′ Civic/ CRX or 90′-93′ Integra.
