TracTuff 1/16″ NPT to -4 Male Flare

This 1/16″ NPT to -4 Male Flare port adapter is specifically made for my billet radiator cap bungs. Meaning… the CNC program cuts the threads so that the fitting tightens just before poking through the other side (known as clocking) and interfering with the radiator caps’ moving parts.

Unfortunately, like with all pipe threaded products, tight is ultimately up to the installer’s discretion, and many overtighten… thinking no threads should be visible upon install. So, if you are installing this into a virgin TracTuff radiator cap bung with two to three wraps of Teflon tape… it should be tight by the time it is flush with the inside of the cap bung. If it is not, it is very likely that the previous fitting used has opened up the female thread and now requires the fitting to be threaded further in OR more Teflon tape to be used. In some cases, it may even require you to trim the end of the fitting to avoid hitting the radiator cap.

NOTE: If you are using this fitting along with my billet radiator cap cover, you will want the hex to be flat and parallel to the cap cover so the two don’t interfere with one another (as shown below). Remember, Teflon tape should be used on ALL tapered pipe threads. Teflon tape is primarily used to lubricate the threads of mating parts, preventing binding/ galling, and decreasing the effort required to assemble, as well as helping with sealing.
