TracTuff L15B Water Pump Delete

Description

The L15B water pump housing delete is designed to replace the bulky OEM mechanical water pump, water pump housing, tensioner assembly, water pump crossover tube, and upper water neck assembly.

Several benefits can be attributed to uncoupling the water pump from the crankshaft, including reduced parasitic drag that can free up horsepower and torque. A reduction or elimination of pump cavitation and associated troubles relating to aeration. Better control of the cooling system’s temperature through electronics. The ability to manually override the pump and fan(s) to cool the motor while the engine is off. And lastly, the space you can free up by eliminating the OEM items.

Unfortunately, this system does not work with A/C, so the only thing the crankshaft will now be driving…is the alternator. Belt adjustment/tensioning will be handled by a billet adjuster that attaches to the lower alternator mounting point, allowing the belt to be tensioned like golden era Hondas.

The pump delete plate has a machined o-ring groove on the backside, around the large 1-5/16″-12 SAE (-16AN ORB) water inlet port, as well as two machined o-ring grooves around the two smaller 7/8″-14 SAE (-10AN ORB) oil in/ out ports. An optional oil cooler port fitting kit includes a special galley plug, an o-ring, and two -10 male flare port fittings so you can run an aftermarket oil cooler. These ports will not send oil to an oil cooler properly without this kit, so a pair of -10 ORB port plugs is included.

The L15B water pump delete is totally different from my other water pump delete kits, not only in looks, but because I force you to buy an upper water neck. The original upper water neck on these newer Honda motors incorporates not only the outlet connection, but the thermostat, water bypass, heater inlet and outlet connections, water pump inlet tube connection, and inlet connection… all of which need to be reconfigured. I will walk each customer through, upon request, AFTER a purchase has been made.

The new upper water neck incorporates a large 1-5/16″-12 SAE (-16AN ORB) water passage, a 1/8″ BSPT sensor port, an ECT sensor port, a 3/4″-16 SAE (-8AN ORB) port to supply water to an accessory, and a 1/2″ NPT port for a heater supply or second accessory.

NOTE: As stated earlier, the L15B water pump delete is NOT designed for use with A/C. Gates 6 rib belt (PN: K060331) fits the factory L15B7 crank and alternator pulley with a little room for additional tensioning left over.

The water pump housing delete hardware kit includes three o-rings, a pair of -10 ORB port plugs, socket head mounting bolts, and a -16 male flare fitting. The upper water neck hardware kit includes a 1/8″ BSPT plug, a -8 ORB port plug, a 1/2″ NPT heater port plug, and either a choice of 1.25″ standard hose or -16 male flare inlet fitting. The Alternator tensioner hardware kit includes two stainless steel spacers, a socket head bolt and a flanged hex head bolt.

Pump mounting and plumbing is up to you but if you are interested in Meziere products, I stock the 20 GPM Meziere WP136S and 55 GPM Meziere WP336S electric water pumps.
