The Remote Mount Race Swirl Pot & Header Tank Combo is what I refer to as a max effort system.

The paired products produce a system that is, without a doubt, the most effective product you can find to deaerate a cooling system. Unlike the majority of swirl pots you will see as you navigate my website, the race style swirl pot’s job is solely dedicated to deaerating the passing fluid. The header tank’s job is to collect the aerated fluid and separate it (similar to a dry sump oil system) as well as handle the expansion of the system as fluid temperatures climb.

The swirl pot and header tank are remotely mounted; you usually find the swirl pot at the same height or slightly higher than the OEM outlet on the engine. The header tank is mounted as high as possible, within the same general area as the swirl pot. Coolant is routed from your upper water neck to the swirl pots’ upper connection, and the lower connection continues to the top of the radiator. The vent on the swirl pot is routed to the top third of the header tank, and the outlet on the header tank is, in turn, connected to the inlet side of the water pump. The suction the water pump creates helps to pull the aerated fluid from the swirl pot into the header tank, where the air rises and the settled fluid returns to use.

There is no fill point on a race swirl pot… that is the header tank’s job, and as a result, it needs to be situated as high as possible in the engine bay so that the water level in the tank is higher than everything else and is typically mounted to a firewall, bulkhead, or shock tower.

The cap bung has a 1/16″ NPT port for connection to an overflow and uses early model Honda radiator caps, such as an 88′-91′ Civic/ CRX or 90′-93′ Integra.
