TracTuff De Tomaso Pantera Swirl Pot & Header Tank Combo
I offer plug-and-play or completely custom De Tomaso Pantera Swirl Pot & Header Tanks as replacements for the original parts.
I was first contracted to make a set of custom tanks for a local customer in 2021 after he found me on social media. His swirl pot and header tank were only similar to the originals in height... everything else was unique to the customer's request. The swirl pot and header tank were 4.00" in diameter and used readily available .065" wall 6061 aluminum tube for the bodies. Both received my signature, billet lids and billet bases, but the header tank was the only one to receive a billet domestic radiator cap bung. The swirl pot received a -4 male flare vent, which was more traditional for a swirl pot, and the 1.375" hose connections were traded for 1.50" inlet/ outlet tubes. The header tank received an additional -4 vent for the radiator and a traditional slip hose fitting for the water pump return hose.
I share those details because I want to be clear that nothing is out of my scope. Budget dictates everything here, and options are limitless. The options listed here are just a small sampling of those used in the projects I have been a part of. If you want a different combination and you don't see it... just ask.
The second time I was contracted to make a set of tanks was also for a local customer. His swirl pot and header tank were more similar to the originals, but were HIGHER END. The swirl pot and header tank were 4.45" in diameter, created from .125" wall 6061 pipe that was CNC machined for a billet exterior turned finish. I made two custom-matched billet lids and billet bases, and like the OEM set, both received billet domestic radiator cap bungs. The swirl pot will use the 1/8" NPT overflow port on the radiator cap bung as a vent and will interact with the header tank by using a 1/8" NPT to -4 male flare port fitting. The swirl pot did receive traditional 1.375" hose connections that were massaged by hand to reproduce the OEM inlet and outlet angles. The header tank received an additional -4 vent for the radiator and a -8 return fitting for the water pump return hose.
The pricing this listing spits out will be very different... 4.00" is less expensive, as I already do a ton of 4.00" stuff and have everything made in quantity. The 4.45" will be treated the same as it was for the customer mentioned above... until sales show that it is worthy of me making in quantity. If you are leaning more towards that variant, please expect a significantly long wait.
