TracTuff K20/ K24 Water Pump Housing Delete

UPDATE: Product shipping 1/2/23 and on will have three NEW changes that are now reflected in the images below. The alternator bracket is considerably bigger/ stronger and the pivot point has been moved up 3/8" to play nice with the Dailey Engineering Dry Sump kit. The plates tensioner window has been moved towards the -16 ORB port to eliminate tensioner misalignment and the the plates treaded tensioner holder has been ditched for a precision ground stainless steel pin that is a prefect fit with the rod-end. The stainless steel pin is retained by a 5/16" circlip so you will now need retaining ring pliers with a .031" or smaller tip.

The K20/ K24 water pump housing delete is designed to take the place of the bulky OEM K20A, K20Z, K24A, and K24Z mechanical water pump housing, water pump, and thermostat assembly.

Mostly considered for the HORSE POWER it frees up as a result of reduced parasitic drag engine being it no longer needs to turn the water pump. Additional gains can be experienced for those willing to ditch the alternator and the 16V battery route and no longer turn an alternator! Other benefits include elimination of water pump cavitation during sustained high RPM use (using the mechanical pump outside of its engineered RPM range), allowing the ECU to turn the pump on and off with your own custom strategy, and being able to keep the pump and fan on while the engine is off.

Various alternators can be used with this kit but I highly recommend the S2000 unit. Late model B and D series alternators with a ribbed drive pulley fit the bracket but have fewer belt ribs than the crank pulley. The 2000-2001 DC2 Type R (B18C5) has the second highest amperage output. The 1999-2000 Civic Si (B16) or 2001-2005 Civic (D17) has the lowest amperage output. If you are looking for the highest amperage OEM option and you are willing/ able to modify the lower mounting ear of the alternator...  you will need to buy my reducer bushing for the upper ear. The S2000 alternator conveniently has the same number of pulley ribs, natively rotates the same direction and has the same plug as the K harness.

Due to the various K series crank pulley diameters (OEM & Aftermarket) as well as multiple alternator pulley diameters... I do not provide belts. The tensioner in this kit does allow for a wide range of adjustment and in many cases the belts listed below, work. To determine the belt length on your own, simply wrap a string around the pulley's of the installed kit (with the alternator adjustment completely contracted), mark where the strings touch, measure that length and call an auto parts store with the length and number of grooves. If the number of groves are not available at that length, you can either go up to the next available length OR reduce the number if ribs.

I offer the plate inlet fitting, -8 breather port fitting, 20 GPM WP136S electric water pump mount for the Meziere WP136S electric water pump as well as a pump hose kit OR a 55 GPM WP336S electric water pump mount for the Meziere WP336S electric water pump as well as a pump hose kit to get water from the pump to the water pump delete plate.

NOTE: CNC machined from US milled 6061 aluminum; the plate incorporates an OEM o-ring groove around the water passage and a large 1-5/16"-12 SAE (-16AN ORB) inlet port for great water flow and hassle free clocking of the fitting. The second smaller port is a breather port, it is 3/4"-16 SAE (-8AN ORB).

The alternators pivot hardware is grade 12.9 so the bolt gets torqued to 59 lb. ft. (dry) and then the nyloc nut gets torqued to 62 lb. ft. (dry).

You will need to apply Hondabond (not included) to the block, just like you would with the factory water pump housing, to seal the crankcase breather chamber.

I do not recommend turning the pump off or leaving it off while the engine is running; there is no way for the ECT sensor to see temp without water movement. The pump should be pulsed at the very least.
